BrickNetty Pride Heart - Aboriginal flag
BrickNetty Pride Heart - Aboriginal flag
BrickNetty first designed rainbow pride hearts in 2017, to celebrate LGBTIQA+ people, partnerships and pride. Since we have created many other designs.
We created this pride heart to celebrate the Aboriginal people of Australia. We are passionate about recognising first-nations people, and advocating alongside them for their sovereignty and human rights.
As non-indigenous people, we are aware of the copyright contention with the use of the Aboriginal flag. We are thrilled that the Aboriginal flag is now freely available for people to use.
Our pride heart is based on the Australian Aboriginal Flag. The flag was designed by Harold Thomas, a Luritja man of Central Australia, in 1971.
The flag has the following meanings:
Black – represents the Aboriginal people of Australia
Yellow circle – represents the Sun, the giver of life and protector
Red – represents the red earth, the red ochre used in ceremonies and Aboriginal peoples’ spiritual relation to the land
$2 from the sale of each Aboriginal flag heart is donated to Black Rainbow.
We are passionate about the health of indigenous communities, especially mental health.
This BrickNetty heart is handmade from new genuine LEGO bricks.
It measures 7.5 cm high x 8.0 cm wide x 2.5 cm deep.
